Windsurfing on the Isle of Wight.
From day one back in the early 80's, OFFSHORE SPORTS has
stocked windsurfing gear.
The knowledge and experience that Ceri and Ian Williams brought
with them soon made OFFSHORE SPORTS the No 1 Windsurfing Shop
on the Isle of Wight and it's strong connection with the Wight
Water Activity Centre, people were first hiring, and then
buying.
Back in the Heydays, a whole fleet of windsurfers all ages
and walks of life could be seen blasting off Sandown Bay!!
Over the years the Isle of Wight has produced some awesome
windsurfers with two young guns standing out well above the
rest. They have since become household names on the Island
both becoming National and International Junior and Youth
Champions.
They have become one of OFFSHORE SPORT's greatest assests
with a large group of followers wanting to use the same kit
as they do. (By the way - their names are Aaran and Ross Williams.
Sons of the owner of OFFSHORE SPORTS - handy that!!)
Now Ross is on the International circuit competing across
all disciplines - Wave, Slalom and Formula in many parts of
the World and against the World's Best.
Ask any of the World's top windsurfers and they will
tell you that it's not "if" but "when"
Ross wins the World Title.
Brother Aaran remains a well known windsurfer and still competes
on the UK and International circuit.
He is sponsored by Tushingham and works closely with Ken Black
on testing and tuning new sail designs.
His main brief though, is closer to home as Manager of OFFSHORE
SPORTS and there is no doubt of his reputation as an expert
in all aspects of windsurfing from kit choice to technique
and from novice to pro.
Ceri Williams their father and partner in OFFSHORE SPORTS,
has a different mission in life right now as current Chairman
of the International Windsurfing Association and with this
global overview he can see as big resurgence in Windsurfing
in 2004 and beyond.
This keeps him in touch with customers and manufacturers alike
and he's nearly always to be found in the shop in Shanklin.
